Mock Exam
The idea of postmodernism in media is the theory itself where it rejects the idea that any media texts is of a greater value than another as all judgement of value is provided from taste. The idea of postmodernism further argues that our distinction between representations of the media and reality is blurred, where we are now living in a world of simulacra and blurred boundaries.

Represenation
It is interesting how Felix represents a contrast in his image compared to the gamers, which would be expected as he is seen from another reality to the humans. However, as Felix point out in the above scene to the Sergeant her 'HD look' is very much the same as the human gamers. This represents the sense of postmodernism of a loss sense of reality as due to the Sergeant being of the same image as the games, this allows for the gamers to be put in more of a immersion state. Their reality is blurred due to their avatars realistic, similar image unlike the characters in Fix It Felix and Sugar Rush.
Simulation
Simulation in Media: Video Games, Film, Social Networking. Baudrillard argued that all Simulacra is portrayed through media.
Simulation is a RE Presentation of society, society is constructed by the individual themselves.
Post modernism is defined by teenage attitude and teenagers presented as to be cynical, pestemistic, loss of belief and extremely superficial.
The barrier between age of adults and teenagers are blurred as the generation is post modern. Everyone has adapts to it.
Simulation key words: Superficial. Empty. Retro.
Wreck It Ralph: If it challenges or conforms to the given boundaries. This falls on whether it becomes POMO.

Representation
From theoretical approach, it conforms to POMO.
From historical approach, it does not fully conform to POMO.
From stylistic approach, it does conform to POMO.
Simulation: Avatar Task
The task is creating our own avatar allows for us as a audience to have a escapism to a simulated reality. Through avatars, for example Sims and the software we have used: 8 Bit Rebellion, allows the game player to have a strong immersion with the text. It is a simulated creation of reality. The immersion blurs what is reality and what is simulated or hyper real.

Postmodernism Brief Revision
Media analysis-post-modernism (ideologies-ideas that are taught to be generally correct and are morally brainwashed/preached to the audience.)
Matching the 3 videos
.theme of deconstruction.
.theme of mass violence; big industrial cities.
.aspects higher power destroying inferior individuals
Post-modernism is the breakdown of structures, concepts and barriers.
Ideologies continue to change over time. Post-modernism is a time related theory.
Examples of 'traditional' ideologies:
.Nuclear Family 👪
.Women in the kitchen 💁🍳
.Education 📚
Postmodernism is a lack of belief: cynicism.
ALL REVOLVES AROUND DECONSTRUCTION
Division between people believing one thing/or the same thing ----Older generations or cultures tend to believe in traditional ideologies. (Postmodernism is affected by time.)
RECYCLED IDEAS!
There is a stylistic approach to postmodernism.
There is a historical approach to postmodernism.
There is theoretical/ideological approach to postmodernism.
Allegory: Tells a message in a subtle yet memorable way. For example: Memorable adverts such as the free view broadband Cat/Bird one.
POSTMODERNISM: SOLID. STEAM. LIQUID (3 stages of postmodernism-water allegory).
Postmodernism Research
Hybridity (The mixing and sampling of different kinds and levels of hip hop music. Television ads, etc)
Bricolage-Used to refer to the process of adaption or improvisation.
Self Reflexivity: text aware that it is a constructed simulation or reproduction. Using Intertextuality references & creating hyper reality, does it play with the ideOf itself being a simulation of reality?
Simulacra: implications for real forms of media . Our sense of reality is influenced and dominated by popular media images. Cultural forms of idelogies can longer express it's views as reality itself is saturated by advertising, film, tv, etc.
Digital imaging of media texts allow for he reliability of the image to be untrustworthy.
Eg: Advertising shows us a fake and hyper real presentation of the product.
Above is screen shots of a nuclear portrayal of a family, however, using aspects of modernism ideologies and interpreting post modernism ideas within the scene. for example; the idelogies is to be financially secured, married and of a mature age to be pregnant, and in this music video, the young teen shows herself being pregnant and childishly acting out promiscuously. This is highly ironic due to the physical portrayal of the traditional looking character.
Disjointed narrative structures
These are said to mimic the uncertainties and relativism in postmodern films such as PulpFiction.
Films like this generally, due to contemporary narratives, often wont get guaranteed relatable identification with the characters or a happy ending. For example "Meta Narratives" which have traditionally been achieved at the ends of films. They often end with maybe a highly ironic or unfinished ending. Sometimes maybe parodic.-Memento and Fight Club.
Narratives can also be disjointed in Time and Space-modern/retro films such as Blade Runner.
Media can so sometimes be perceived as "between" us and reality. Hence he word media with the word "mediation".
The media performs it's own form of reality to which we now have non sense of the distinction between reality or media images of them, or real experiemces and simulations of them . MEDIA REALITY IS THE NEW REALITY.
Jameson's Nostalgia and Cultural Recycling
Uses Intertextuality, parody, and pastiche.
Examples for Terminolgy
Patische- Intertextuality. South Park parody for humour. Lady Gaga used pastiche is a more sophisticated interpretation of Intertextuality.

Personal Exam Analysis
Success Criteria:
4 theorists that are relevant-Terminology (20)
A/A/E Answer/Analysis/Example
4 examples from your product (Apply theory)
Thesis statement that answers the question= Justification
Extent of how relevant these theories are?
Why?- Post Modern/Modern
Personal Marking Feedback:
-Thesis Statement is strong/clear arguement, using a 'measure' to how my music video conforms to dominant ideologies.
-However, need a coherent argument and clearly structured thesis throughout. Clumsy written expression.
.Need a clearer structure to express arguement clearer and to be organised within timed management.
Copy/Paste added examples to essay:
. The music video conforms immensely to Gauntlett's, Butler's, Hall's and Bauldrillard's theory presenting conventions of post modernism in contrast to a modern representation and dominant ideologies.
